Bundaberg, QLD — McCrystal Agricultural Services (McAg) PALM residents participated in the recent Bundaberg Multi-Cultural Day, a vibrant event that celebrated the rich diversity of the region. Organised by Praveen Mathew, the Multi-Cultural Coordinator for the Bundaberg and District Neighbourhood Centre, the event saw a significant turnout, with people from various cultural backgrounds coming together in a spirit of unity and celebration.
McAg supported the event, with a stall hosted by Marina Matchett, the company’s dedicated Staff Support Officer, alongside a spirited group of McAg seasonal workers from Vanuatu. The stall featured a variety of offerings, including sweet potatoes donated by McCrystal Produce, and traditional hair braiding services, which were particularly popular among attendees. McAg Cultural Team Leader Madlene Poilapa also cooked traditional Tuluk and Pumpkin Pie which was available for purchase at the event.
All funds raised by the McAg team will be donated to Progress Pikinini, a charity that holds a special place in the hearts of the Vanuatu community. Progress Pikinini is dedicated to providing essential educational tools and everyday items to schools and children in Vanuatu, including storybooks, textbooks, stationery supplies, clothing, and even toys.
The event not only highlighted McAg’s commitment to supporting their workforce but also showcased their dedication to building connections between our workers and our community. McAg’s participation in the Bundaberg Multi-Cultural Day is a testament to their values of giving back, and building and maintaining respectful relationships.
With their contributions to Progress Pikinini, McAg has once again demonstrated their commitment to not just their employees but also to the communities from which they come. The day was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended and reinforcing the importance of cultural connection in the region.
